Workshops

When lockdown hit in March 2020, I was in the middle of a month-long programme of workshops to mark International Women’s Day for Zoopla, the London-based property website and app. I delivered the first two in person and the next two remotely.

For the rest of 2020, along with my colleagues at Teams and Leadership, we designed and delivered a comprehensive series of workshops for senior leaders in different contexts.

Since our clients already included the NHS, and the British Red Cross, we often had frontline staff in our sessions, who were keen to get practical tips in the shortest possible time about topics including:

  • Leading in uncertain times

  • Remote leadership

  • Team resilience under pressure

  • Personal resilience and stress responses

  • Communicating change in a crisis

Clients seemed to appreciate that my interest in resilience was both personal and professional.

If you’ve watched my Tedx, you might remember that in 2008, my husband died, and on the day of his funeral I found out that the magazine I’d been editing had collapsed. So I entered the last global recession with no job, four children and in the madness of bereavement.

In this context, it was almost light relief to design a workshop for the 10,000 members of the Society of Authors for November 2020 on the subject of “Rebuilding your creative career in mid-life”.

I keep up with the latest best practice in creating effective, interactive learning, through my membership of the Professional Speaking Association.
