"My husband is an addict, what can I do?"

Mary Fenwick, agony aunt for Psychologies magazine, answers this question from a reader:

"My husband started taking strong painkillers five years after an injury and I am sure he is now addicted to them. He is a totally different person to the man I married. He has become aggressive, secretive, selfish, unsociable, compulsive, unloving, no sex drive, and unkind. I have spoken to doctors and therapists, who are understanding but they say there is nothing they can do to help until the person themselves asks for help. I still love him, but I am now contemplating divorce. What can I do?"
